First: there is no way to distinguish the quality of the drill bit from the color. The color is not directly related to the quality. The drills of different colors are mainly different in processing technology.

Of course, you can make a rough judgment from the color. However, the current low-quality drills also process their colors to achieve the appearance of high-quality drills. 

What is the difference between different color drill bits?

High-quality fully-ground high-speed steel drill bits often appear in white. Of course, rolled drill bits can also be white by fine grinding the outer circle.

The quality control is also quite strict during the grinding process, and there will be no burns on the surface of the tool. Black is a drill bit that has been nitrided. It is a chemical method to place the finished tool in a mixture of ammonia and water vapor.

After a 540-560 ° C heat treatment, it will increase the durability of the tool. At present, most of the black drills on the market only make the color black (in order to cover the burn or black skin on the surface of the cutter), but the actual use effect has not been effectively improved. There are 3 processes for the production of drill bits, black is for rolling, the worst.

 The white ones are for edge cleaning and grinding. Because unlike rolling, high-temperature oxidation does not occur, the steel grain structure is not destroyed and is used to drill workpieces with slightly higher hardness. 

The yellow-brown bit is called cobalt-containing drill in the industry. This is the unspoken rule of this bit industry. Cobalt-containing diamonds are originally white and produced by grinding. When atomized in the later period, they are made into tan (commonly known as amber), which is the best in circulation at present. 

Another type of M35 (Co 5%) is gold. This drill bit is called titanium-plated drill and is divided into decorative plating and industrial plating. Decorative plating has no effect at all, it is beautiful, Jin Cancan. 

Industrial plating is very good, and the hardness can reach HRC78, which is higher than the hardness of cobalt-containing diamonds (HRC54 °).
