DYNAMIC LOAD CELL TECHNOLOGY

Technological development has spawned more advanced solutions, and knowledge is the basis for making correct decisions.

Almost all industries now use automatic checkweighing equipment. In fact, in today’s production and operation, if you want to ensure that the quality assurance system is efficient, without the addition of automatic checkweighers, it is simply unimaginable. Whether in the pharmaceutical, chemical or cosmetics production, food and beverage industry, metal processing industry or automotive manufacturing-all companies rely on these precision instruments. Therefore, it is not surprising that the automatic checkweigher has always been a key part of the production operation-because this equipment can not only weigh, but also truly optimize the production process.

As the name implies, “automatic checkweigher” refers to a system that weighs a product as it is guided through a weighing cell on the production line. In this process, the products are transported to a pre-defined weighing area, and then sorted / rejected according to the weight classification. In the past, it was necessary to manually collect a large amount of data for the purpose of quality assurance, but now, the automatic checkweigher can record all the data in less than one second. An important advantage of using an automatic checkweigher is that it allows a comprehensive inspection of the product. However, the function of an independent automatic checkweigher goes far beyond checkweighing. This equipment is gradually developing into a “workstation” that can guarantee quality throughout the manufacturing process. For example, by further integrating other detection equipment, other problems such as opening of the box, bottle cap or bar code, and missing RFID tags can be reliably detected.

A monitoring system tailored to the manufacturing process in use can help avoid product defects and product recalls, and also support compliance with national metrology guidelines. All in all, the use of automatic checkweighers can reduce overall operating costs. In addition, the implementation of strict precautions in the production process to meet the needs of due diligence can provide very favorable proof when legal disputes or audits are performed.

Rugged and accurate-dynamic load cells require various properties to ensure effectiveness

The automatic checkweigher is a separate device. The final design of an automatic checkweigher is determined by the specific task to be performed. Therefore, the key lies in the specific production deployment. At this time, various situations need to be considered, such as the environmental conditions at the installation location, required accuracy, throughput, or article
specifications. In order to meet these requirements, automatic checkweighers (especially the load cells) must first have the ability to handle business, and secondly, they need to be specially modified for different production environments.

Harsh environmental conditions require a certain degree of robustness. Anyone who is unfamiliar with this technology will be surprised by the ability of the automatic checkweigher-over the entire life cycle, the automatic checkweigher can not only provide very accurate test results, but also meet the most stringent production requirements. This is for
good reason: reputable manufacturers not only provide the right technical solutions (these solutions themselves need to be regularly upgraded and optimized), but also based on providing valuable experience in many successful projects. If the supplier can have a deep understanding of this area of expertise, it will be
very helpful for the selection.

Environmental factors-temperature, humidity, vibration, etc. will affect the accuracy of the automatic checkweigher.

Not only weighing accuracy, environmental factors can also negatively affect the durability of materials. These requirements for the durability of the inspection system and the reliability of the weighing results require professional skills and solution capabilities of the equipment manufacturer. Finding the best way to eliminate adverse environmental factors
usually requires practical experience.

In addition, market development trends and industry competition will also affect automatic checkweighers. Manufacturers of precision scales / balances are facing more and more new developments. Correspondingly, their products will also have new impacts on production and design. The fierce competitive pressure will also come from overseas,
which forces product manufacturers to strengthen the processing capacity of production operations. At this time, saving production time can provide a favorable price advantage. The actual effect also includes faster production cycle time and faster production transfer speed. At the same time, these are accompanied by
stricter requirements on the reliability of automatic checkweighers. Obtain accurate test results with a shorter measurement time — requires mature expertise and professional solutions.

In addition, saving company costs can also lead to very different effects. For example, entrusting external personnel to perform outsourcing work such as cleaning may result in the weighing test equipment not being properly maintained. Improper cleaning operations or the use of too much detergent can severely affect materials
and detection systems. Therefore, if manufacturers can provide equipment with IP69 / IP69k rating and waterproof protection, then a high level of protection will be an important advantage. It would be better if there were no additional costs for this.

Common protection levels include:
• IP 30 – Prevent objects (tools, thick wire, etc.) over 2.5 mm from entering.
• IP 54 – 100% of dust cannot be prevented from entering, but the amount of dust entering is not sufficient to prevent the device from operating normally. The enclosure is surrounded by water splash protection, so it can prevent any harmful effects.
• IP 65-Prevent dust from entering. Splashing water from the shell at any angle will not cause any harmful effects.
• IP 66-Prevent dust from entering. Any strong water column that splashes the housing from any angle will not cause any harmful effects.
• IP 67-Prevent dust from entering. Protection against water immersion up to 1 m. When the enclosure is submerged in water under certain pressure and time conditions (maximum immersion depth of 1 m), water must not enter.
• IP 69 / IP 69k – IEC60529 / DIN 40050-9 expands the scope of protection to protect the high-pressure cleaner and high-temperature cleaning process. Such enclosures must provide protection against dust penetration (IP6X) and high pressure and steam jet cleaning. The test uses water temperature, water pressure and nozzle flow rate to be 80 ° C, 80 – 100 bar (8 – 10 MPa) and 14 – 16 l / min. During the test, the nozzle is 10 – 15 cm away from the test device and uses four angles of 0 °, 30 °, 60 °, and 90 °, and each angle is maintained for 30 seconds (Figure 1). The test equipment is installed on a rotating table and rotates once every 12 seconds (5 rpm).
