AGV car unmanned carrier to achieve almost unmanned automatic operation, high efficiency output. So far, the technology of the unmanned carrier has been improved and perfected, and its performance is also improving. From the initial electromagnetic guidance, to the optical tape recognition, and then to the laser reflection angle measurement positioning, the guidance technology has made continuous progress, which improves the flexibility of the travel path and the positioning accuracy of the unmanned carrier. The working ability of its unmanned carrier has been able to replace the ordinary manual handling and mechanical handling, and it is more flexible, safe, energy-saving, stable and reliable. As an automatic device, AGV car can realize the unmanned operation of material handling
1. Warehousing
Storage industry is the place where AGV was first used.In 1954, the world’s first AGV was put into operation in the warehouse of Mercury Motor freight company in South Carolina, USA, to realize the automatic handling of goods in and out of the warehouse. At present, there are about 20000 AGVs in 2100 warehouses in the world. In the stereoscopic warehouse of the Development Zone put into operation by Haier Group in 2000, nine AGVs constitute a flexible automatic handling system in the warehouse, which successfully completes the handling task of 23400 goods and parts in and out of the warehouse every day.
2. Manufacturing
AGV car plays an important role in the production line of manufacturing industry. It can carry materials efficiently, accurately and flexibly. Moreover, the flexible logistics handling system can be composed of multiple AGVs, and the handling route can be adjusted in time with the adjustment of the production process, so that a production line can produce more than ten kinds of products, which greatly improves the flexibility of production and the competitiveness of enterprises. In 1974, in order to improve the flexibility of the transportation system, the Volvo Kalman car assembly plant in Sweden adopted an automatic car assembly line based on AGVs. The assembly line is composed of several AGVs that can load car bodies. After adopting the assembly line, the assembly time is reduced by 20%, the assembly failure is reduced by 39%, the investment recovery time is reduced by 57%, and the labor force is reduced by 5%.At present, AGV has been widely used in the manufacturing and assembly lines of major automobile factories in the world, such as GM, Toyota, Chrysler, Volkswagen and so on.In recent years, as the basic handling tool of CIMS, AGV has been widely used in many industries, such as mechanical processing, home appliance production, microelectronics manufacturing, cigarette and so on
3. Post office, library, port and Airport
In the post office, library, wharf and airport, there are many characteristics in the delivery of goods, such as large change of work volume, strong dynamic, frequent adjustment of work process, and single handling process. AGV’s parallel operation, automation, intelligent and flexible characteristics can well meet the handling requirements of the above occasions. In 1983, Sweden started to use AGV in Stockholm post office, Japan started to use AGV in 1988 in Tokyo, and China started to use AGV in 1990 in Shanghai Post hub to complete the handling of stamp products. At the port of Rotterdam in the Netherlands, 50 AGVs, known as “yard trackers”, complete the repetitive work of transporting containers from the ship’s side to warehouses hundreds of yards away.
4. Tobacco, medicine, food and chemical industry
The application of AGV in tobacco, medicine, food, chemical and other industries with special requirements of cleaning, safety and no emission pollution in handling operations has also been paid attention to.In many domestic cigarette enterprises, such as Qingdao Yizhong group, Yuxi Hongta Group, Honghe Cigarette Factory and Huaiyin cigarette factory, laser guided AGV is used to carry pallets.
5. Dangerous places and special industries
In the military, based on AGV’s automatic driving, it integrates other detection and dismantling equipment, which can be used for battlefield demining and position reconnaissance. Minder recce, a reconnaissance vehicle being developed by British military, is an automatic reconnaissance vehicle with the ability of mine detection, destruction and route verification. In iron and steel plants, AGV is used for burden transportation, which reduces the labor intensity of workers. In nuclear power plants and places where nuclear radiation is used for preservation and storage, AGV is used for the transportation of goods to avoid dangerous radiation. In film and film warehouse, AGV can transport materials and semi-finished products accurately and reliably in dark environment.
