Do you know about AGV drive? Here’s how jujujumi explains:
(1) Single drive, for three wheel vehicles: one driving and steering wheel, two fixed driven wheels (distributed on both sides of the car body axis). This kind of car can move forward, backward and turn left and right (the turning angle is less than 90 °).Due to the good grip of the three wheel structure and the general requirements for the ground surface, it is suitable for a wide range of environments and occasions.
(2) There are two types of differential drive: three wheel and four-wheel: two fixed driving wheels (distributed on both sides of the car axis), one (three wheel) or two (four-wheel) driven free wheels. Turning is realized by the speed difference between the two driving wheels. This kind of car can move forward, backward, turn left and right (the angle is more than 90 °) and spin in place. The adaptability of turning is stronger than that of single drive. In the case of a three wheel vehicle, the applicability to the ground surface is similar to that of a single drive vehicle. If it is a four-wheel vehicle, because it is easy to cause one of the wheels to hang in the air and affect the navigation, it has strict requirements on the surface smoothness, and the scope of application is limited.
(3) Dual drive, for four-wheel vehicles: two drive and steering wheels, two driven free wheels. This kind of car can move forward, backward and omnidirectional. The outstanding feature is that it can control any change of body posture during driving. It is suitable for narrow channel or environment and occasions with special requirements for working direction. The disadvantages are similar to the four-wheel vehicle with differential drive, which has strict requirements on the surface roughness and limited scope of application; in addition, the structure is complex and the cost is high.
(4) Multi wheel drive, for eight wheel vehicles: four driving and steering wheels, four driven free wheels. This kind of car can move forward, backward and in all directions. It has complex structure and high cost when used in heavy haul industry.
